Project #9394 — iteration #20Minted on February 15, 2022 at 06:22

"Test Prints" are a result of the screen printing process. Before a print run, artists often test out new screens on scrap, or print directly on top of a former test so that no paper is wasted. Over time, compositions and colors of unrelated work are layered, creating a random and unique work. Test prints are often dinged, bent, scratched and smeared, adding to their character. The resulting 'monoprints' are often treasured by poster collectors due to their uniqueness and rarity. Some poster events invite artists to bring an old screen, and layers are then built up with random colors to see the resulting collaborative artwork. This generative artwork pays tribute to screen printing and the beauty of randomness.
