# What About Bonk?

Waking up the other day, drinking my morning ☕with an 👁on the news (i.e., twitter, disco, telegram, mirror, substack, the usual), I started to see Bonk getting mentioned.

Thinking nothing of it, and not wanting to get hacked, TBH (always DYOR), I carried on with my day and started catching up on a Twitter space from the night before. I shoulda caught it live, but you know a n0madz gotta sleep every once in a while, I get so sleepy in the wintertime…hmmm… hibernationnn…

Anyways, where was I? Ah, yes, the Twitter space most excellent, hosted by our own JBurn and featuring the monk from another monastery Paper Buddha:

They discuss BONK with the takeaway being: check your SOL wallets, because, most likely if you weren’t a holder of certain XYZ \[fill-in-the-blank] collections, you were airdropped this BONK coin, and the BONK coin just so happened to be taking off.

Like a dutiful degen, I check my wallet, and lo and behold, there’s over 500 million BONK sitting in there, worth approx. \$600 USD at the time of writing.

Goes to show how often I check that wallet that I don’t even notice until a Twitter space causes me to go check it. Also shows how long it’s been since a PB drop on SOL 👀

I immediately swapped to SOL and then cashed out for the first time in my degen life (well, cashed out to ETH and BTC, lolz 🤪)

I write this not as an advertisement for Solana or even BONK coin. As you see above, I left a bit of SOL to pay for goods n services, but everything else went elsewhere. I write this because of how I ended up on SOL in the first place.

# The Journey So Far

Quite frankly, I ended up on Solana because Paper Buddha drops artwork there. Since establishing a digital footprint on Solana as n0madz (or n0\_madz), I’ve collected artwork by other artists - JBurn, Sam SV, Degen Poet, Bendolgasm, eyeeyemouth, dulfariz - but the reason why I’m there at all is that Paper Buddha dropped a couple affordable open editions that allowed me to start building a collection right away. I was like why da fuk not (?).

By branching out and dropping artwork and inspiring a collector to venture out in search of that artwork, this n0madz ended up on Solana. I wasn’t planning on it, but it happened.&#x20;

Then, fast forward to the end of the year and I randomly became a BONK millionaire for a short period of time, and I’m not someone who has gone into this with the intention of making any money. I’ve felt inspired by the art, the technology, and the communities that I see being built on a daily basis and it makes me want to give back, contribute, create and build something, too. This is why I am n0madz, and we’re just getting started.&#x20;

**So, and I know if I’ve said it once I’ve said it at least 420.69 times, a big shout out to Paper Buddha for inspiring this degen to branch out to other blockchains, because in Web 3.0 experimentation is what it’s all about.**
