What Burning Man Has To Teach Blockchain Technology About Unlearning
The anarchist writer and poet Hakim Bey first coined the term Temporary Autonomous Zone ("TAZ") in 1991. Burning Man is a community driven TAZ where its participants temporarily liberate a space from state control and market forces for one week each year. Through decentralization, Blockchain technology achieves something similar, only more persistent. Unfortunately, unskillful habits from our crumbling default world have been carried over to the Blockchain. What lessons can be learned from Burning Man? How do we give one another permission to reinvent ourselves and practice both radical inclusion with others and radical self-expression with ourselves? Equally importantly, how do we reward immediacy while also investing the time and the care required to build equitable and ethical foundations for the future?

Methods of Dispersal
We released the seeds at midday, following our best computer predictions, hoping against all odds that they'd travel far, re-seeding the earth, sowing a future for us. It was months since the fall, since that terrible moment containment failed; quarantine failed; humanity itself failed. We called it ‘The Last Days’—unoriginal, perhaps, but descriptive all the same–and shook our heads in despair at our hubris, at the price we'd paid. This would make it all right. Our computer model, proving we still had hope, that we'd make it all go away. The seeds would float on the wind, drifting into the tortured air, and carry with them new life. And we would live again.

Glyphs II
In a world of war, habitat destruction, misogyny, poverty, and pandemics, it can be hard to maintain any equanimity. Everywhere we turn there is a politician or an influencer determined to keep each of us in a state of alarm to the benefit of their own status, power, and greed. And these pale in comparison to those actively and brutally imposing their will on others to the point of loss of life and liberty.
Generative Music - A Brief History and Future
We know that generative art has a rich history, but what of generative music? It too shares a rich history, yet remains a passive subcomponent within generative arts, playing an auxiliary role, or even, occasionally, added to works as an afterthought. Yet I’ve found many examples -- on both Ethereum and Tezos -- where musical elements have become more of the primary focus. Join me as I rifle through some select choices, after offering a bit of history and context to it all.
A Random Walk through Color and Space
Random walks are a significant area of study within mathematics, and various other scientific fields. They are used to model how particles travel, how stock prices move, how genetic drift occurs along with countless other applications. It could even be argued that random walks are a simplistic description of the chaotic nature of the universe. I have been interested in probabilities and statistics since an early age, and find the nature of random walks to be extremely interesting. More recently, I have become aware of how extensively I have been using random walks within my creative processes. This article is an overview of how I have used random walks of particles, shapes and colors in my generative art.
