The German term for rug, carpet, or tapestry; I’ve chosen this translation specifically because of its multiple meanings, what originally was a texture study of fabric became more recognizable as a rug. There are imperfections in the stitching, some bits of the underlay and adjacent colors bleeding into others. This name accurately captures both the intention and result of this piece.
