Tych
written by rudxane
Tych tries to replicate a human acting like a generative system, introducing human characteristics in a generative system where each line stroke is inconsistent and the high frequency of repetition causes instability and misalignment in the overall work.
The series was released on December 8, 2021 with an edition count of 321 pieces.
Tych #1
Development of the original code base for Tych started in the Summer of 2021. At the release of fxhash some of the code in development for Tych was used in BINGO.

Layout
Grid and margins
Each Tych generates a grid with [1-17] columns and [1-17] rows, a general margin acting as the border of the Tych and a margin between each grid item.
Each block within the grid then gets assigned 1 of 6 drawing styles that will be used to fill the grid block. Each drawing style scales differently, creating visual differences between drawing styles depending on the margin and amount of rows and columns the Tych has.
Tych #276
Tych with large margins resulting in a distinctive “stems” look for some drawing types:
Mono
There’s a 10% chance for a Tych to be generated with the Mono attribute, this will define a single drawing style that will be used for each grid block, creating a more uniform result.
Tych #186
Tych #177
Pivot & Frustration
There’s a 4% chance that the Tych will be generated with the Pivot attribute, this will rotate the canvas a single time, resulting in a “misprint”.
Tych #89
There’s also a 1% chance for the Frustration attribute, this will rotate the canvas for each drawing cycle, resulting in a circular pattern of the grid.
