I am writing this article after a successful daily exhibition. Our current exhibition, titled "Proof of X," explores the possibilities of blockchain and art. Every day a variety of people visit the exhibition, and the artists are busy running around the venue explaining the work of themselves and their fellow artists. Watching the lively, bright-eyed visitors trying out the works and the artists engaged in stimulating dialogue with visitors about new ideas for the scene, the present, and the future, one realizes that this is what an exhibition is all about. In organizing the exhibition, we wanted to feature not only conceptual blockchain-based works, but also generative art as a very important area leading the current NFT scene. To that end, we prepared a live mint experience in collaboration with fxhash and KUMALEON. For this section of generative art, we adopted the "open call" method of curation, which is different from the main part of the exhibition. This is because we wanted to incorporate one form of decentralized curation as a kind of blockchain-themed exhibition. We carefully selected the participating artists from among the many submissions, and ten very distinguished artists from Japan and abroad were chosen. In this article, I would like to introduce the works of these 10 artists from various backgrounds.

毎日盛況の展覧会の終了後に、この記事を書いています。私たちが今開催しているのは、「Proof of X」というタイトルのブロックチェーンとアートの可能性を探求する展覧会です。毎日さまざまな方が来場し、会場ではアーティストたちが忙しく自分や仲間のアーティストたちの作品の解説に走り回っています。目を輝かせながら作品を試す観客たちや、このシーンの新しいアイデア、現在や未来などについて来場者たちと刺激的な対話を繰り広げているアーティストたちの生き生きとした姿を見ていると、展覧会というのはこのためにあるのかと気付かされます。展覧会を開催するにあたって、私たちはブロックチェーンを用いたコンセプチュアルな作品だけでなく、今のNFTのシーンをリードする非常に重要な領域としてジェネラティブアートをフィーチャーしたいと考えました。そのために用意したのが、fxhashとKUMALEONのコラボレーションによるライブミント体験です。このジェネラティブアートの区画は、本編とは異なるキュレーション方法として「公募」という方法を採用しました。ブロックチェーンをテーマにした展覧会として、ある種の分散型キュレーションの形の一つを取り入れてみたかったからです。たくさんの応募の中から参加アーティストを厳選し、国内外から集った非常に豪華なアーティスト10人が選ばれました。そこでこの記事では、さまざまなバックグラウンドを持つその10人の作品を紹介してみたいと思います。

# .conatus - .r🜨tation

When I was seeking a magnetic flux distribution map by electromagnetic field analysis using FORTRAN, I became interested in art expression using mathematics and algorithms, and after encountering fxhash, I learned the fun of random() and noise() from quantum mechanics, strata, and flow fields, and have been working on them. In participating in the Proof of X, .conatus decided to try to find out what "X" is in my own way through writing code. What started out as a contour map-style noise piece became a work that evoked the changing scenery of the seasons as it progressed. However, he still felt that something was missing. That was the existence of X≒the earth's axis. The X became the catalyst for the creation of a work in which beautiful noise harmonizes with the ground.

FORTRANを用いた電磁界解析による磁束分布図を求めていたとき、数学やアルゴリズムを用いた美術表現に興味を持ち、fxhashに出会ってからは量子力学や地層・流れ場などからrandom()やnoise()の面白さを知り、制作を行っている。今回のProof of Xに参加するにあたり、.conatusはコードを書くことを通して自分なりの“X”を突き止めてみようと考えた。当初、等高線地図スタイルのノイズだった作品は、制作が進むうちに季節の風景の移り変わりを連想させる作品となっていく。しかしそれでも何かが足りないと感じたという。それがX≒地軸の存在だった。そのXが、地上に美しいノイズが調和する作品を生み出すきっかけとなった。

# Ahmad Moussa - Somewhere in Between

Ahmad Moussa is a German-based generative artist and creative coder. He publishes articles on creative coding on the Internet under the name Gorilla Sun. The work created for this year's Proof of X is a work that combines rectangles divided by lines to create complex shapes. By connecting evenly placed sockets without intersecting each other, the rectangular area can be divided in various ways. This work enjoys the interest of rhythmical shapes that are complex but also minimalistic.

Ahmad Moussaは、ドイツを拠点とするジェネラティブアーティストで、クリエイティブコーダー。インターネット上では、Gorilla Sunという名義でクリエイティブコーディングに関する記事を発表している。今回のProof of Xのために制作された作品は、ラインで分割された長方形を組み合せて複雑な形状を生み出す作品。均等に配置されたソケットを互いに交わることなく繋ぐことにより、様々な仕方で長方形の領域を分割することができる。複雑だがミニマルにも見える、リズミカルな形状の面白さを楽しむ作品。

# C4RC0 - No need for noise

A Budapest-based artist whose work is based on architecture, drawing, and painting. The work in this exhibition was created to pay homage to Imre Bak, one of the great masters of abstract art, and the shape of an X, the symbol of the exhibition, is also incorporated into the work. Abstract art, including abstract geometry, brings liberation to thought. For example, when we try to understand an object or shape depicted in an image, we construct a framework in our mind. "Is it a square pyramid, or is it a triangle?" Sometimes it is simply beautiful in a purely relational way, and other times it jumps out at the viewer as a concrete shape. The work conveys the surprise that an abstract shape can be transformed depending on the viewer's perspective.

建築、ドローイング、絵画をベースに活動するブダペスト在住のアーティスト。今回の作品は、抽象芸術の偉大な巨匠の一人Imre Bakに敬意を表すために制作され、展示の象徴でもあるXの形が作品にも取り入れられている。抽象幾何学を含む抽象芸術は、思考に解放をもたらす。例えば画像に描かれている物体や形を頭で理解しようとするときに、頭の中にフレームワークを構築する。「それは四角錐か、あるいは三角形なのか」と。あるときは純粋な関係性の中で単純に美しく、あるときは具体的な形状として目に飛び込んでくる。抽象的な図形が、見るものの見方によって変容する驚きを伝えてくれる作品となっている。

# eziraros - 台灣建築記憶

eziraros is a generalist artist from Taiwan who specializes in drawing in p5.js. As the name suggests, "Taiwan Architectural Memory" is about memories of Taiwan's architectural culture. eziraros feels that most of Taiwan's architecture is not very beautiful in appearance. One of the reasons for this is that people installed iron bars outside their windows due to the lack of security in the past. At the same time, however, Taiwan also has beautiful handmade "iron windows" (retro iron windows). The iron window flowers made by old craftsmen, he says, show the artist's attention to detail and the cleverness of the design. This work is deeply lyrical, combining old walls, iron window flowers, broken tiles, and densely packed old apartments as the collector sets the parameters.

ezirarosは台湾出身のジェネラティブアーテイストで、p5.jsで絵を描くことを得意とする。「台灣建築記憶」は、その名の通り台湾の建築文化の思い出をテーマにした作品。ezirarosは台湾の建築の大部分は見た目があまり美しいとは言えないと感じている。その理由の一つとして、昔の治安の悪さにより人々が窓の外に鉄格子を設置したことを挙げる。しかし同時に台湾には、手作りの美しい「鉄窓花」（レトロな鉄製の窓）も存在している。昔の職人が作る鉄窓花には、作者のディテールへのこだわりやデザインの巧妙さを感じられるという。コレクターがパラメーターを設定することにより古びた壁や鉄窓花、割れたタイル、密集した古いアパートなどが組み合わされる、深い叙情性を湛えた作品。

# Frank Force - Scribbobbles

Frank Force, known as KilledByAPixel, is a generative artist with an extensive background in computer graphics and game development. The work exhibited in this year's Proof of X uses a circle packing algorithm. The artist can choose several forms, including the symbol of X, which is also the symbol of the exhibition, a circle, and a cross shape. The work has a pictorial warmth as well as a taut tension, with lines that seem to surge through the interspersed circles.

KilledByAPixelとして知られるFrank Forceは、コンピュータグラフィックスとゲーム開発の分野で幅広いバックグラウンドを持つジェネラティブアーティスト。今回のProof of Xに出品された作品は、サークルパッキングアルゴリズムを使用した作品。展覧会の象徴にもなっているXのシンボルや円、クロス型などいくつかの形態を選ぶことができる。敷き詰められたサークルの間をほとばしるようにラインが駆け巡る、絵画的な温かみとともに、張り詰めた緊張を携えた作品でもある。

# Gin - Visible or Invisible

Gin is a generative artist who explores drawing expression using mathematical methods. This work for Proof of X integrates multiple layers of blockchain, contracts, and wallets behind generative art. The Tezos logo, hash values, the artist's wallet address, and Minter's wallet address are visible and hidden within the work. In keeping with the exhibition's own concept of the blockchain, this work attempts to visualize the various layers behind the NFT and give them form as generative art.

Ginは、数理的な手法を用いた描画表現を探求しているジェネラティブアーティスト。今回のProof of Xのための作品は、ブロックチェーン、コントラクト、ウォレットなど、複数のレイヤーをジェネラティブアートの背後に統合した作品。作品の中には、Tezosのロゴ、ハッシュ値、アーティストのウォレットアドレス、ミンターのウォレットアドレスが見え隠れする。ブロックチェーンという展覧会自体のコンセプトに合わせて、NFTの背後にあるさまざまなレイヤーを可視化し、ジェネラティブアートとして形にすることを試みた作品。

# HAL09999 - Si-operator

Hal09999 is an artist who takes inspiration from topics derived from nature and science, and uses handmade algorithms to explore new structures and new aesthetics. For Proof of X, he presents a work on silicon, the second most abundant element in the earth's crust after oxygen. The work dynamically forms complex molecular shapes by combining particles. In live mode, the effect of a sub-dimensional force field is visualized by 2.56 million particles. The synergy of unpredictable movement and complex shapes creates a powerful work that holds the viewer's gaze.

HAL09999は、自然や科学に由来するトピックからインスピレーションを受け、お手製のアルゴリズムを利用して、新しい構造の探求や新しい美学を探求するアーティスト。今回はProof of Xのために、地殻内で酸素に次いで2番目に豊富な元素、ケイ素をテーマにした作品を発表。粒子の結合により複雑な分子の形状が動的に形作られる作品となっている。ライブモードでは、256万個の粒子によって亜次元の力場の効果が視覚化される。予測できない動きと複雑な形状の相乗効果により、見るものの視線を釘付けにする力強い作品が生み出された。

# sakamura - cube

sakamura is a Japanese generative artist whose background in information engineering led him to become interested in drawing expressions generated from algorithms as he was exposed to various programming languages. The work created for this year's Proof of X is a work that uses parameters to create cubes of various depths and colors. Smaller cubes and spheres aggregate without interfering with each other to form larger cubes. While creating forms that are both complex and simple, the work gives the impression of being both three-dimensional and two-dimensional at the same time. The refreshing gradation of color in this work also makes it pop.

sakamuraは日本のジェネラティブアーティストで、情報工学のバックグラウンドから、様々なプログラミング言語に触れるなかでアルゴリズムから生成される描画表現に興味を持つようになったという。今回のProof of Xのために制作された作品は、パラメータを使用してさまざまな深さと色の立方体を作成できる作品。小さな立方体や球が互いに干渉せずに集合することで、大きな立方体を形成する。複雑さと単純さを兼ね備えたフォルムを作りながら、三次元であると同時に二次元であるような印象を与える。爽やかな色彩のグラデーションが、ポップでもある作品。

# SamuelYAN - 初夏の旅路 Traveling in Early Summer

Creative coder with a background in music and painting. This Proof of X is his first exhibition at fxhash. The inspiration for this work is the artist's own memories of early summer in Japan. In creating the work, he thought of his trip to Kamakura in 2019, when he began to delve into the realm of creative coding. It was his first early summer in Japan. This work incorporates his impressions from that trip into a work of art. This work is an attempt to share the artist's emotions from the transformative journey with the audience through artwork.

音楽と絵画のバックグラウンドを持つクリエイティブコーダー。今回のProof of Xが、fxhashでの初出展となるアーティストでもある。この作品のインスピレーションは、アーティスト自身の日本の初夏の記憶。作品を作るにあたって、クリエイティブコーディングの領域を掘り下げ始めた2019年の鎌倉へ旅のことが思い浮かんだという。それは日本に初めてきた初夏であった。その時の印象を、作品として落とし込んだ作品。変革的な旅から得たアーティストの感情を、アートワークを通じて観客と共有することを試みた作品。

# Senbaku - Diaries

senbaku is a Japanese artist with a background in folklore who works with cords. For Proof of X, she created a work based on the motif of ghosts, a subject she has been focusing on on a regular basis. For her, ghosts symbolize the changes she and other artists are going through. The title "Diaries" expresses that the artist's own feelings and experiences are reflected in this work, as each person continues to have their own unique experiences and emotions, even though they pass by many people. This work, which documents the days gone by and the artist's transformation, expresses a deep connection to the blockchain.

senbakuは民俗学のバックグラウンドを持つ、コードを使って作品を制作する日本のアーティスト。その彼女が今回のProof of Xのために制作したのは、日頃から力を入れているおばけをモチーフとした作品。彼女にとっておばけは、彼女自身や他のアーティストたちが経験する変化を象徴している。「Diaries」というタイトルは、多くの人とすれ違いながらも、一人一人が独自の経験と感情を持ち続けている、そんな作者自身の感情と経験が本作品に反映されていることを表現している。過ぎ去った日々とアーティストの変化を記録したこの作品は、ブロックチェーンとの深い関連性を表現している。
