Project #12829 — iteration #46

Minted on May 12, 2022 at 16:41

Interlocking ribbons are placed around focal points like sunflower seeds, using the Golden angle.

Features: six color schemes, two color variation types, three rendering styles, and variable aspect ratios.

----

The Golden angle is based on φ ("phi"), the most irrational number. Using this angle between successive ribbons means that as they spiral outwards, they end up distributed evenly around the center. The Golden angle is visible in many plants, not just the sunflower, since it helps prevent leaves from shading each other. ("Fibonacci phyllotaxis")

Phi, the Golden angle, and Fibonacci numbers generally have many fascinating, unexpected, and beautiful mathematical and geometric relationships. Learning about them was a delight.

----

Keys: 1-8 to change pixel density, s or double click to save, S to toggle drop shadows if present.
URL parameters: shadows (0 or 1), animated (0 or 1), aspect (e.g. 16:9, 2:3, 8.5:11)
